Tolu is a ceramic artist and researcher who has been working with clay since 2005.
Formally trained in ceramic arts, Tolu has worked across studios in Canada and West Africa, gaining a deep appreciation for material, patience, and process in each environment.
Today, he continues to teach and guide students not just in technique, but in learning how to communicate with clay.
The 6-Week Handbuilding Class is a guided pottery course focused on creating beautiful pieces without using the wheel. Over six weeks, you’ll learn core handbuilding techniques such as pinch, coil, and slab building, plus joining, refining, and surface decoration. Each week builds your skills step by step, so you can confidently make functional and decorative pieces like mugs, bowls, planters, trays, and sculptural forms.
You’ll also explore texture, carving, and simple finishing methods, then choose glaze colors to bring your work to life. We handle the firing, and your finished pieces will be ready for pickup after the final glazing and firing cycle.
Please note that we do not offer class rescheduling, so please ensure you are available for the scheduled dates
